She had 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Olie(Arlie) Underhill, Leon Williams, Steve underhill, of Ft. Pierce, Franklin Walker, Wayne Morgan, Delray, and Alva Thomas, all nephews.Funeral services were held at the Brethren Church Thursday, January 30th, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. F. C. Rohrer, Pastor of the Church, Rev. F. M. Hollingsworth of Lorida, and Rev. Clarence erbaugh officiating.The burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery with Yates Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements..

"THE OKEECHOBEE NEWS," Published in Okeechobee, Florida, Obituary February 4, 1955 Page 1, Funeral Services Held Sunday for Will H WalkerWilliam Hardy Walker, age 68, affectionately known to his many friends as "Mr Will," died at his home here at 2 o'clock Saturday morning. He had had two heart attacks lately and had been in the hospital twice but suffered no attack at the time of his passing. "Mr Will" was sexton of the Okeechobee cemetery for a number of years. He moved here with his family from Basinger in 1918. He was a native of this section, having been born here when this was a part of Osceola county. His parents, J S and Bertha Walker, resided at Basinger for many years. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Brethren Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with burial in Evergreen cemetery. F M Hallenberg of Sebring, former pastor here, conducted the services which were in charge of Yates Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Rudy Alderman, Elmer Pierce, Franklin Walker, Mack Underhill, Steve Underhill of Fort Pierce and Ernest Hilliard. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Cuthbert Walker; one son, Clayton, and a daughter, Mrs Wilma LaMartin, both of Okeechobee, Seven grandchildren also survive..

Runer Services for Mr. Walker were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18th at Kicliter Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. F. C. Roher and Rev. Monroe Arnold officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Okeechobee. The Kicliter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The groom Buddy, as we all know him, is county Tax Assessor, and is regarded as one of the finest young men in the county. He is beside a high school graduate, a graduate of Rollins College. Buddy paid for his own college education and in many other ways is an entirely self-made young man, whose friends are legion.

Mr. LaMartin began work in te Tax Assessor's office in 1928 and was elected to that position in 1932. He retired in 1964 after serving eight consecutive terms in office. In 1964 after serving eight consecutive terms in office. Following his retirement he devoted the next 20 years to a small cattle and citrus operation on his property south west of the city. Robert LaMartin was born in bassinger, Florida, then part of osceola County, in 1901 to parents Robert Lee and mary Evelyn Lamartin, one of 12 children. Orphaned at age 10, he went to live with his sister Esther and her husband John Hardy Walker's family and moved with them from Bassinger to Okeechobee in 1919. he attended school first iin Bassinger, then in Okeechobee, and in 1928 was graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He was a member of the Okeechobee Church of the Brethren, where he taught the adult Sunday School class for many years. He is survived by his wife Wilma Walker Lamartin, a daughter Bobbie Lee Wilson of Okeechobee, a son William Frederick LaMartin of Tampa, and a sister Leona Roane of Naples, Florida. he also leaves four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

"Bud" Draugon, 42, died yesterday at Lee Memorial Hospital after complications set in following an appendicitis operation Friday. The operation was not an emergency case but was performed after recurring attacks caused Mr. Draughon to decide to have his appendix removed. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon at the First Baptist church with the Rev. C.T. Tew officiating with the assistance of the Rev. Carlock Hawk, pastor of the First Methodist church. Interment will be in the Fort Myers cemetery. Lawrence A. Powell is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Draughon is survived by his wife, Mrs. Esther Draughon; a son Walter Louis Draughon, Jr., who attends Florida university; two daughters, Sophie and Linnie; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Darughon, Sr.; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Barron and Mrs. William Sutton, both of Fort Myers and a brother A.H. Draughon, Jr., prominent truck grower and lumberman. Active pallbearers will be Walter R. Kaune, sr., Postmaster Walter Walters, Attorney James A. Franklin, Deputy Clerk D.T. Farabee, Tax Collector R. Vivian Lee and Russell Rich. Honorary pallbearers will be Judge George W. She was 83. Born at Fort Meade, the daughter of Peyton S. and Lientitia Chandler Pearce, she was married at Arcadia in 1890 to John Floyd Kinsey, who died in 1929. Mrs. Kinsey was a charter member of the First Baptist Church and Eastern Star of Arcadia. She had been a pioneer school teacher before her marriage, and as a young girl assisted an uncle in operating the first telegraph station in Desoto County. She is survived by three sons, H. R. Kinsey of Ft. Lauderdale, Joe D. Kinsey of Sebring and J. H. Kinsey of Ft. Myers; a daughter,Mrs. Lessie K. Smawley of Ft. Myers; four sisters, Mrs. A. H. Draughon of Ft. Myers, Mrs. P. R. Read Sr of Arcadia, Mrs. J. M. Langford of Lakeland and Mrs. Lillian P. Anderson of Jacksonville; and three brothers, Henry W. Pearce, Walter G. Pearce and Bryant E. Pearce of Ft. Myers. A fourth son, Paul B. Kinsey, died in 1951. The funeral service will be at the Young-Harvey chapel here at 2 p.m. tomorrow and graveside services will follow at Arcadia at 4 p.m. Rev. Richard L. Brown will officiate at the service here and Dr. Roy Lee Barron in Arcadia. Pallbearers will be P. H. Kinsey, Paul Kinsey and Joe Kinsey Jr., grandsons, and Emmett Richards and Henry Pearce, nephews. .

A retired building contractor, he constructed the DeSoto County courthouse. He moved to Brooksville in 1882, lived there 12 years, and lived in Arcadia before moving here. A veteran of the Spanish-American War, he was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, the Masonic lodge, Eastern Star, Odd Fellows and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Myra E. Read, at home; three sons, Robert L. Read, of Highland City; P.R. Read, Jr. and J. Taliaferro Read of Arcadia; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Parrish of Lakeland, and Mrs. Lucie Clark of Tampa; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and a half-brother, Hill P. Read of Houston, Texas..

Pearce, who started farming in the Fort Myers area in 1929 and was a pioneer in the breeding of Charolais and Charolais-Brahma cross-bred cattle in the eastern United States, died Friday night at Lee Memorial Hospital. He ws 89 years old. Born on Christmas Day in Arcadia, Pearce and his brothers farmed in the Fort Myers area for approximately 23 years. He and a brother also operated the Pearce packing house at the foot of Monroe Street near the present site of the Lee County Bank. About 1942 he decided to raise a single crop instead of diversified vegetables and went into growing potatoes. He went into the cattle ranching business in 1952 and moved his operation to Quitman, Ga. He retired in 1966 and returned to Fort Myers Pearce was known for his philanthropic support of religious and youth work. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Myers, Hillsborough Masonic Lodge No. 25, Fort Myers Araba Shrine Temple, Fort Myers Rotary Club and a life member of the Florida Sheriff's and the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranches. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter Mary Elizabeth Durre of Homestead; grandson: Jack P. Durre of Miami and great grandson Jonathan Edward Durre. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Tuesday at the Fort Myers First United Methodist Church.

Adams of Fort Pierce.Survivors include: her son, Raymond D. Holmes of Fort Pierce; two daughters, Marie Iris Rector of Satellite Beach and Mary Ellen Bryant of Fort Pierce; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren.At Ella's request there will be no formal funeral service and an inturnment will be in the family plot in Bassinger Cemetery.Haisley-Hobbs funeral Home Inc., in Fort Pierce is in cahrge of local arrangements.
