4297. Obituary, Obituary Orlando Sentinental October 1, 2004, STORY, WOODROW W., age 83, of Bithlo, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at home. Born on January 12, 1921 in St Cloud. Mr. Story was a true Florida Cracker and a pioneer. Mr. Story loved his work. He spent his entire life working cattle. He was one of a few in Orange County that made his entire living from cattle. A son, Carl Story, preceded Mr. Story in death. He is survived by his wife, Martha B. Story; son, Woodrow W. Jr. and daughter- in-law Carolyn Story of Okeechobee; daughter-in-law, Lynn Stephens of Mississippi; grandsons Woodrow W. Story III of Okeechobee and Clayton Carl Story stationed in New Mexico; sisters Juanita Cox, Bithlo, Sara Myrtice Taylor, Winter Garden; two stepchildren; four step grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. Services will be held at Downey Memorial Church, Union Park on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 2PM. Interment will follow at Christmas Cemetery, Christmas. Delbert Redditt, Minister officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-8PM on Saturday October 2nd at Union Park Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Union Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to The Christmas Cemetery Association, PO Box 76, Christmas, FL 32709 and/or Vitas Hospice, 5151 Adanson St., Suite 200, Orlando FL. 32804. The Rev M M Martin, pastor of the Independent Baptist Church here, officiated, assisted by Rev Cranford, pastor of the First Baptist Chruch. Burial was in Okeechobee Cemetery.William Edgar Raulerson was born in Polk County, Florida, in 1872. He moved to Okeechobee County early in life and settled at Bassinger. He moved with his family to what is now Okeechobee in 1910 and had made his home here since.Surviving are his wife, Merida; four sons, Ocie, Edward, Chester and Leslie, all of Okeechobee; a daughter, Mrs Zora Coker, Okeechobee; father, Noel, Okeechobee, who is 99 years of age; six brothers, Ben, Walter, Harley and Morris, all of Bassinger, and K B of New Smyrna; eight sisters, Mrs Ida Chandler of Fort Myers, Mrs W E Arnold, Mrs Callie Clemments, Miss Nancy Raulerson, Mrs J L Morgan, Mrs Katie Chandler and Mrs Della Sloan, all of Okeechobee; Mrs Hattie Henderson of Malabar; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.The pall bearers were J L Barber, Bethel Sloan, John Chandler, Van Lightsey, Bob Lightsey and Robert LaMartin.

They became residents of Okeechobee and in 1949 purchased two newspapers, the Okeechobee News and the Herald. They terminated the Herald but continued to publish the News and founded the Immokalee Herald.She was in volved in establishing the Episcopal mission that preceded the present Church of Our Saviour.When they left Okeechobee in 1962, they became residents of Ocala, then moved to Monticello in 1963. AfterMmajor McClellan died in 1967, Mrs McClellan continued to live in Monticello until October 23, 1973, when she married Osie L Raulerson, Sr., and returned to Okeechobee. At that tiime she resumed her membership in Church of Our Saviour and served on the Altar guild as long as she was physically able.Her surviving relatives include two stepchilren: former sheriff O L Raulerson and wife Judy, Osann Lowry and husband Robert; two step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and one cousin Nancy Ballard of Amarillo, Texas.Graveside services willb e held Saturday, May 10 at 10 am at Evergreen Cemetery. Although born in Basinger, Mrs. Chandler made her home in Okeechobee until seven years ago when she moved to Fort Myers.From a pioneer family in thei section, Mrs Chandler was widely known, being one of the 13 children of Noel Raulerson, now in his 102nd year.Survivors, in addition to her father, six sisters and six brothers, include the following children, Mrs. Bertis Tatum and Ida May of Fort Myers, Mrs. Mellie Brantley, Eddie and Charles of Clewiston, Henry of Miami, Mrs. Billy Waldron and Harmon of Fort Lauderdale, Hugh of St. Augustine, Mrs. Bessie Albritten of Okeechobee, Mrs. Alma Patton of Fort Pierce, and Mrs. Thelma Thingster of West Palm Beach.Graveside ceremonies were conducted at the local cemetery Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. Sidney H White, Jr., of fort Myers, assisted by Rev W C White of Okeechobee.Pallbearers were Martin Hancock, Robert Lamartin, Ray Hux, Roy Draughon, Clayton White and E M Meserve.

Chandler, Miami, Mrs. Mellie Brantley, Clewiston; Mrs. Ola Waldron, West Palm Beach, Harmon Chandler, Fort Lauderdale; Ed Chandler, Clewiston; Hugh Chandler, St. Autustine; Mrs. Alma Patton, Fort Pierce; Mrs. Thelma Ting, West Palm Beach; Mrs. Ida Mae Hendry, fort Myers; and Charlie L. Chandler, Jr., Clewiston. One daughter, Mrs. Callie Burcham, is deceased.In addition to her children, the deceased is also survivied by her father, Noel Raben Raulerson, Okeechobee; six brothers, Bennie C. Mr. Chandler is survived by six sisters, Beatrice Hite, Ida Mae Hendry and Millie C. Brantley, all of Ft. Myers, and Bessie Albritton of Naples, Thelma Pingsten of Palm Beach, Alma Patton of Ft. Pierce, and one niece Merle Brandley of Clewiston. Pricvate services were conducted Friday, Dec. 30 by Rev. Bob G. Lynch. Interment was in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Pattison Funeral Home, Clewiston, was in charge of arrangements.
